Bewildered

I am bewildered
At heart-wrenching images
Of war, of famine

As intolerance
And suffering and disease
Ravage this planet

I am bewildered
At our ignorance and fear
Our indiscreet rage

As the repressive
And authoritarian
In darkness, takes hold

When I look deeper
Beyond which is physical
Past the mortal coil

At the majesty
Of our spirits, eternal
I know truths, deeper

Life is but a play
And we are all the players
Who sometime stumble

When you’re bewildered
Remember this, and hold faith
For hope’s own kindness
