The following internal conversation took place on a Friday afternoon while I was at the office. It was sudden and quite unexpected. But it was just what I needed to hear.
Me (wistfully): I’ve just come to the realization that I’ve always been the strong one, the rock of Gibraltar. The one others come to when they need help. I … (hesitation)
Universe (warmly): …yes, you are strong, my beloved. You have had many lifetimes in which you have experienced that which you most needed. It hasn’t been easy, but look where you are now!
Me (tearfully): I know, I know. I just can’t help but wonder who will be there when I am in need? Who will catch me when I fall?
Universe (patiently): You have friends and family who love you. You’ve kept them at a distance, but this is changing. And what about me? After all, I am the universe, you know?
Me (laughing): I know. How silly of me to forget what a wonderful ally you’ve been — both in good times and bad.
Universe (puzzled): Yes, this concept of good and bad still eludes me. However, if I may I think you should focus on the good for now. Just remember, I’ll always help you manifest what you most need.
Me (gratefully): You’ve always been a good friend. I have to remember to trust you more often.
Universe (sarcastically): You think? By they way, change is coming your way. Good things — as I understand the concept. And don’t look at me; you did this!
